Mansfield Motorsports Park Raceday Updates

NOTE: This is what we posted throughout the day on the front page of EastSeries.com throughout the Mansfield Motorsports Park race day. If you were at the track or not able to get to the site over the course of the weekend, this will give you some idea of how the event progressed from our first arrival on the grounds Saturday morning until we packed up to leave Saturday evening. This is probably best read from the bottom up.

One to go this time by so we go back to green on lap 134

7 Duff is towed off the track while 40 Kobyluck is still at the front of the field, maybe they'll let him keep the lead. Behind him is 15 44 11 3 2 1 80 37 88 4 30 22 75 72 39 8 35 9 21 16 71 - those last few may or may not be on the lead lap

71 is beneficiary as 18 hits it road with a torn up right front corner.

CAUTION #11 lap 126: 7 Duff is the victim of three-wide racing down the backstretch. He's got damage to front and rear and is stopped high in turn three pointing the wrong way. We wait and see if the 40 gets to keep the lead as wreckers show up to assist Ryan Duff

GREEN lap 125: 40 hanging tough on the outside

We are on one to go and 4 Carmichael is not faling to the rear. Now he goes. Coming to the green.

We'll be down a little bit of inside info and amusing radio chatter as our 15 year-old scanner has appeared to finally breathed its last. On the plus side, the field is rolling with the exception of 05 Pavageau who has been pushed onto pit road and behind the wall.

Engines have been fired

5:33 p.m. - One change to the starting lineup: Ricky Carmichael will have to fall to the rear of the field under pace laps because he failed to show up for driver introductions.

5:29 p.m. - We've sang, we've prayed, and TV is about to start rolling. This means we'll probably have a race to watch before too long.

5:12 p.m. - We're not really sure why, but we've been told to report that Trevor Bayne is giving a shout-out to his BFF. Consider it done.

4:55 p.m. - Driver introductions are going on as we speak. The minute-by-minute schedule has TV going live at 5:30 p.m.; engines will be fired six minutes afterwards.

2:16 p.m. - Trevor Bayne will start this afternoon's Mansfield 150 from the pole position after setting a track record in Coors Light Pole qualifying. Bayne will have DEI teammate Jeffrey Earnhardt alongside, with Brian Ickler and series points leader Matt Kobyluck making up the second row. Complete results are Here. Up next is an on-track autograph session from 3 to 4 p.m., and we'll be back to go racing at 5:30 p.m. with live coverage in this space.

1:18 p.m. - Don't forget, when you see Steve Park today, wish him a happy 41st birthday.

1:12 p.m. - We got practice times up here and we're happy to report that they've been posted Here. We'll apologize to Jason Cochran, who we left off the entry list posted earlier, and now admit that there are actually 26 cars here. Qualifying begins at 1:40 Eastern time and we'll be posting those times as they come over the radio.

12:20 p.m. - The ninety-minute practice session at Mansfield has been concluded without incident for the 25 teams in attendance. We do not have practice times yet, and unless they somehow manage to get a time sheet up here on the outside, we won't be able to post that until we get our hands on a sheet sometime after qualifying. The Modifieds are back on the track for their time trials, the Camping World cars take to the track immediately afterwards.

9:45 a.m. - Jason Cunningham, the Whelen Modified Tour's Media Coordinator, informs me that old friend Dion Ciccarelli is racing in that series here tonight in the No. 18 entry which sports a spec mtor. We'll make sure to swing on by and say hi at some point during the afternoon.

9:25 a.m. - The entry list has been posted Here, based on what we can see up here. If changes need to be made, we'll update it when better information is available. We're trapped, not unlike Lee USA Speedway in the olden days, where the teams are all in the infield and while the Whelen Modified Tour is practicing (currently stopped due to a Bobby Gigras III crash), we can't get there from here. We'll jump over to the other side in time for the start of Camping World Series practice.

9:05 a.m. - We've arrived safely and soundly here in the middle of Ohio to find a halfway decent racetrack with 25 NASCAR Camping World East Series cars awaiting our arrival. We say "halfway decent" because the media accomodations are a hair lacking at the moment: in the area labeled "Media Room" we seem to have a choice of three rows for seating options... except the workspace table has been ripped from the second row. If you sit in the top row, you get electricity. If you sit in the bottom row, you get Internet, or at least a cable that looks like it might be carrying such. Pick your poison. We've opted for electricity and keep our fingers crossed that somehow we'll be able to bring you updates throughout what is going to be a pretty compact race day culimating with the Mansfield 150 that'll go green somewhere around 5:30 this afternoon.
