Dumarey Rallies To 16th Place Finish At New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Loudon, NH (June 28, 2008): Max Dumarey rallied to a 16th place finish after the team was forced to make an unscheduled pit stop with 20 laps to go in the Heluva Good Summer 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Friday evening. Dumarey returned to the race in 26th place, and despite two caution periods, was able to work his way back up to 16th before the checkers dropped.

“We had a good run in the beginning. The car was really good and we got up to 8th place and we could stay there,” said Dumarey. “The tire was wearing too much on the right front, so we decided we had to come in or risk not making it to the end.”

Dumarey started 19th after rain canceled qualifying and the field was lined up by points. When the first round of pit stops occurred at lap 23, Dumarey stayed out and moved up to eighth. The #16 BODYCOACH.NET Chevrolet was solid and Dumarey maintained his position before the caution slowed the pace once again at lap 35. This time, however, the team brought him in for fuel.

“We had a great pit stop and didn’t really give up much track position by coming in,” said Dumarey. “I was really pleased with how things were turning out. There was actually a lot of green flag racing tonight so we had the chance to pass some cars out there.”

Dumarey settled in at 14th over the next several laps before the decision to come down pit road was made with 20 laps to go.

“We got back on the track in 26th and moved up to 16th in just 20 laps. That’s decent,” he said. “Our results aren’t necessarily what I would have liked, but we finished. It’s a step forward.”

This was Dumarey’s third NASCAR Camping World Series East start at the ‘Magic Mile’, a place he is beginning to come into.

“I still would prefer a little banking, but I truly believe tonight we had more of a top-eight or nine car. We were moving there at the end, but we just ran out of time. I’ll take this finish and move on to Thompson. I’m really looking forward to going there and building on this.”
