Solid Run Ends Early For Dumarey At Infineon Raceway

Sonoma, CA (June 22, 2008): Max Dumarey went to Infineon Raceway looking to capture his first win behind the wheel of a stock car. Unfortunately, Lady Luck had other plans for him.

While eyeing a top-five position in the NASCAR Camping World Series West’s Bennett Lane Winery 200, Dumarey’s Bodycoach.net Dodge Charger got tagged by another car and spun. The damage was severe and Dumarey’s chance at a solid top-five run was quickly taken away. He finished the event in 36th.

“We qualified 12th and we were moving up front,” explained Dumarey. “The 16 hit me in the back. I spun out and a couple of guys hit me. It ruined the weekend for us. Everyone had a different agenda today, and it was more like a demolition derby than it was a race.”

Dumarey was out of the race at lap 41, but showed promise before that despite the grueling amount of cautions. The race was marred by 12 yellows in all for a total of 40 laps. Dumarey felt that in the early part of the race, he may have been able to make a little more headway to the front if they had only had some long green flag runs.

“The cautions didn’t hurt us, but it didn’t help us either,” he said. “It’s hard to get ahead when you’re running three laps at a time. The drivers don’t like it and the fans don’t like it. There has to be some respect out there so we can race. There has to be some give and take.”

Dumarey credits the Fadden Racing team with giving him a strong car for the weekend.

“We all had high hopes for this track given my experience on road courses,” said Dumarey. “The guys gave me a solid car and we had good strategy. There was nothing we could do about the circumstances that developed out there today. It was just out of our control, and it ended our day.”

Dumarey shifts his focus back to the NASCAR Camping World Series East as the team prepares for this weekend’s running of the Heluva Good 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday, June 27th.
