Jason Cochran survives the Strutmasters 150 at South Boston

The Cochran Motorsports team headed to South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA. They had their hopes built up after a successful test session a week ago. Practice started out really well for the team they unloaded off the trailer and was only a couple tenths off of the fast times.

After the cosmetic damages were repaired from the first round of practice, Jason took the car back out for the 2nd round. The car was not off a beat after the wreck. Jason picked the pace up another tenth. He pulled the car back in and the team immediately got set up to do a qualifying run. They slapped 4 brand new sticker tires on and taped the car up. Jason once again took the car back out and ran 3 laps. This helped him learn a lot about qualifying since he has not had good luck in the past with that. When it was time for the actual Qualifying to begin, Jason repeated what he just did in practice, and he qualified 22nd, putting him solid in the 32 car field.

The drop of the green flag Jason fell back a few spots while trying to find an opening to get in and get on the bottom line. Once he found that line he started working his way up to the front and at a couple times during the race he was in the Top-15. With about 30 laps to go there was a huge multi-car wreck in turn 3 Jason slammed his brakes on to try and stop before he got to where the crash was and a car had ran right in the back of Jason.

When Jason returned to the track on the restart of that segmant another driver had made slight contact with Jason and knocked out the valve stem causing the left rear tire to go flat. He returned to the track a couple laps down and crossed the finish line in the 22nd place. "It was a really good day overall, we learned a whole lot. I just hate that we started the morning off on the wrong foot with that wreck and I do want to apologize to the other teams for hurting their cars. I want to give a special thanks to my entire team for their hard work they put in all day. We will work on getting the car better for New Hampshire." stated Jason Cochran.

We want to thank each and all of our fans that support us week in and out. We want to send out a huge thanks to our newest sponsor Fotki.com, along with RaceRap.com and Cochran Realty. The teams' plans for the next race as of now is for New Hampshire on June 27.
